If I am convicted of a felony in Federal court, can I vote?

In all but two states (Vermont and Maine), voting age citizens convicted of a felony are barred from voting for at least some period of time. Restrictions on a felon’s right to vote are summarized below:

Voting rights retained while incarcerated for a felony conviction in: Maine and Vermont.

Voting rights restored automatically upon release from prison in: The District of Columbia, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Montana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Utah.

Voting rights restored automatically once released from prison and discharged from parole (probationers can vote) in: California, Colorado, Connecticut, New York, and South Dakota.

Voting rights restored automatically upon completion of sentence, including prison, parole, and probation in: Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, Washington, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.

Voting rights restoration is dependent on the type of conviction and/or the outcome of an individual petition or application to the government in: Alabama, Delaware, Mississippi, Nevada, Tennessee, and Wyoming.

Voting rights can only be restored through an individual petition or application to the government in: Florida, Iowa, Kentucky, and Virginia.

EX-PRESIDENT TRUMP IS FACING MULTIPLE FELONY CHARGES IN MULTIPLE JURISDICTIONS. THE TRUMP TEAM WILL DELAY ANY AND ALL CASES USING ANY AND ALL UNETHICAL METHODS THAT WILL DELAY ANY CRIMINAL PROSECUTIONS THAT WILL REVEAL HIS GUILT IN ANY COURT OF LAW.

DISGRACED PRESIDENT TRUMP HAS NOW “THROWN HIS HAT INTO THE RING’ FOR THE 2024 ELECTION. HOWEVER, I BELIEVE HE IS ONLY MOTIVATED TO AVOID HIS CRIMINAL PROSECUTION OF HIS OBVIOUS CRIMES AND OBVIOUS GUILT. “THE DONALD” WILL USE ANY METHOD AND THROW ANYBODY UNDER-THE BUS- TO AVOID PROSECUTION AND CONVICTION FOR HIS CRIMES.

I PERSONALLY FIND IT AMAZING AND PATHETIC THAT THERE ARE SO MANY OF MY FELLOW CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA THAT EITHER “CAN NOT” or “WILL NOT” RECOGNIZE EX-PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP FOR THE CHARLETON THAT HE TRUELY IS. I AM NOT THE BRIGHTEST BULB ON THE CHRISTMAS TREE BUT I CAN TELL A CHARLATAN WHEN I SEE ONE.

DONALD TRUMP HAS MULTIPLE FELONIES HANGING OVER HIS HEAD. HIS ONLY PATHS TO AVOID PROSECUTION ARE TO:

FLEE THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA OR…

TO WIN RE-ELECTION AND THAT MAY RESULT IN PLACING HIS MULTIPLE LEGAL PROBLEMS ON “HOLD”.

WOULD U.S. CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA ELECT A PRESIDENT THAT DOES NOT EVEN QUALIFY TO VOTE FOR HIMSELF OR ANYONE ELSE ? DONALD TRUMP IS CHARGED WITH MULTIPLE FELONIES. HE WILL BE FOUND GUILTY OR HE MAY PLEAD GUILTY TO AVOID COURT AND ACCEPT A LIGHTER SENTENCE. EITHER WAY, HE SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO VOTE. WOULD THE U.S. JUSTICE SYSTEM ALLOW DONALD TRUMP TO HOLD THE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENCY EVEN THOUGH HE CAN NOT LEGALLY VOTE FOR HIMSELF OR ANYONE ELSE ?

I sat down today to check the traffic on my blog at WORDPRESS.COM They must have a computer SNAFU. WORDPRESS.COM has a unsolicited “pop up” that will not let me write ANYTHING unless I answer their question, which is:

“Who Do I Envy ?”. So , here it is.

Very Strange Indeed ! Nothing like this has ever happened before. So I thought about it for a long time…. I do not envy “money and toys”. I already have more than I ever dreamed. I have a wonderful wife, a wonderful daughter and granddaughter and other family and friends. I have a new life and I am alive.

I do envy everyone in our world that is oblivious to all the pain and suffering that we inflict upon each other in our world. I envy people that are capable of seperating themselves from all the pain and suffering that we all witness in this world. I do not know how to achieve that goal. I have tried and failed and I suspect that most of us have failed that test. I respect the goal of Buddhism to achieve “Oblivion” but I do not have a road map to that address. I suppose that I only envy the men and women that have led their lives serving others in so many ways and have passed away surrounded by friends and family and loved ones with smiles on their faces and a clear conscience. I do envy the innocense of children. ( Our gifts to the future ). We all have baggage. When I catch the train , I hope and pray that I will be allowed leave my baggage behind.

    THIS STATEMENT OF YOURS LEAVES ME WITH 2 OPTIONS TO CONSIDER.   OPTION # 1-  YOU DO NOT BELIEVE IN ANY BIBLICAL PROPHECY or ANY MYSTICISM AT ALL.  THE ONLY OTHER OPTION IS THAT YOU CHERRY-PICK MYSTICAL/SPIRITUAL HISTORY.   

MY QUESTION TO YOU IS: DO YOU BELIEVE THE STORY OF PASSOVER OR IS IT ALSO BULLSHIT ??  I SEEM TO REMEMBER A LITTLE OF THE STORY ABOUT MOSES AND AARON AND THE ANGEL OF DEATH AND MOSES CASTING HIS STAFF TO THE GROUND AND THE STAFF BEING TURNED INTO A VIPER and the PHARAOHS’  MYSTICS CAST THEIR  STAFFS AND THE VIPER OF MOSES CONSUMED THE PHARAOH’S VIPERS.

WAS THIS JUST A EMBELLISHED FAIRY TALE,  A EUPHEMISM OR A LIE ?   WAS IT THE HAND OF G-D ?   OR IS IT JUST MORE  “BULLSHIT” TO YOU ?  DO YOU BELIEVE THE ENTIRE STORY OF PASSOVER AND THE MYSTICAL EVENTS OF PASSOVER ? ARE THOSE EVENTS TRUE?  OR JUST MORE BULLSHIT ?

THERE ARE ALWAYS INTERPRETATIONS THAT ENDEAVOR TO  DISCREDIT  SCRIPTURAL ACCOUNTS.   

FOR EXAMPLE :  I HAVE HEARD AN INTERPRETATION REGARDING THE PARTING OF THE RED SEA.

THE ATTEMPT TO DISCREDIT THE STORY WAS BY A SCIENTIST THAT STATED  THAT IT WAS “PROBABLY” 2 CELESTIAL OBJECTS PASSING NEAR THE EARTH.  THE MASS OF THE OBJECTS AND THEIR GRAVITATIONAL PULL  PARTED / PULLED THE WATERS FROM BOTH SIDES.  SO AGAIN I ASK YOU,  IS THIS MORE BULLSHIT ? NOT TO ME MOSHE ! AND I AM GOYIM ! TO ME IT IS OBVIOUS THE TWO OBJECTS THAT AFFECTED THE GRAVITATIONAL PULL WERE THE HANDS OF OUR CREATOR.

I NEED TO PUT THIS STORY OUT ON THE WEB BECAUSE IT KEEPS APPEARING IN MY DREAMS AND I NEED TO GET IT OUT OF MY HEAD. MAYBE IF I TELL THE STORY, IT WILL LEAVE ME IN PEACE. IT IS A STORY FROM 50 + YEARS AGO………AND LAST NIGHT AGAIN IN MY DREAMS. I WAS A JUNIOR IN HIGH SCHOOL AND LIVED IN ANAHEIM CALIFORNIA IN A NICE NEIGHBORHOOD. DOWN THE STREET LIVED A GROUP OF YOUNG GUYS AND GALS THAT WERE ALSO LIVING IN A UPSCALE TRACT HOME VERY SIMILAR TO THE HOUSE I LIVED IN.

I WAS CURIOUS AND INTERESTED AND FINALLY HAD A CHANCE TO MEET THEM. I WAS ALREADY SMOKING WEED AND EXPERIMENTING. ALMOST EVERYBODY THAT LIVED THERE WERE MUSICIANS AND/ OR SURFERS. WHEN MY MOTHER PASSED IN A AUTO ACCIDENT, I WAS HAVING SOME DIFFICULTY WITH THE REALITY OF IT. I WENT TO SEE JERRY. HIS NAME WAS JERRY SETTLE AND HIS GIRLFRIEND WAS STEPHANIE DETERDING. I LOVED THEM BOTH AND I LOVED THE ENTIRE GROUP OF PEOPLE THAT LIVED THERE AND VISITED THEIR HOUSE. JERRY WAS JERRY SETTLE AND HE GAVE ME MY FIRST SURFBOARD. HE WAS A GREAT SURFER. I WAS A NOVICE. THERE WAS SOME LSD GOING AROUND THAT WAS CALLED ORANGE SUNSHINE. I HAD NEVER TAKEN LSD BEFORE BUT PEOPLE ALWAYS TOLD ME THAT IF I EVER DID TAKE LSD, TO TAKE IT WITH SOMEBODY EXPERIENCED THAT I TRUST. WE DROVE TO THE BEACH AND JUST SAT AND TALKED ALL NIGHT, WATCHED THE WAVES AND THE STARS UNTIL SUNRISE. THEN WE DROVE BACK TO THE HOUSE AND JERRY GAVE ME MY FIRST SURFBOARD. I WAS NOT VERY GOOD BUT I LOVED SURFING LITTLE WAVES. JERRY WAS A GREAT SURFER. JERRY EXPLAINED THAT SURFING IS JUST A EUPHIMISM FOR LIFE. EVERYBODY FALLS OFF BUT LIFE IS ABOUT GETTING BACK UP ON THE BOARD AGAIN FOR ANOTHER RIDE. HE SAID ALOT MORE THAT STRUCK A CHORD WITH ME. WE BECAME GOOD FRIENDS AND I LOVED EVERYBODY THAT LIVED IN THAT BIG HOUSE. MIKE HOMER, GEORGE PARKER, STEPHANIE DETERDING AND I MET HER BROTHERS. EVERYBODY WAS A FEW YEARS OLDER THAN MYSELF AND I ALWAYS ENJOYED THEIR COMPANY AND THEIR MUSIC. I ONLY HAD TO WALK 50 YARDS TO MY HOUSE SO I COULD GET ALL SCREWED UP AND NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT DRIVING HOME.

AFTER MY MOTHER PASSED IN A CAR ACCIDENT I WENT TO TALK TO JERRY. HE WAS SOMEBODY I RESPECTED AND TRUSTED. SO…BACK TO THE BEACH. LAGUNA BEACH AND WE TALKED AND TALKED ALL NIGHT UNTIL THE SUN CAME UP. I THANKED HIM FOR HIS ADVICE. I GOT BUSY WITH SCHOOL AND MY STEPFATHER SOLD OUR HOUSE AND I WAS TAKEN IN BY FAMILY FRIENDS THAT WERE FRIENDS OF RICHARD NIXON AND FRIENDS OF MY MOTHER. THEY HAD A BIG PIECE OF PROPERTY IN YORBA LINDA AND THEIR KIDS WERE GROWN AND OUT OF THE HOUSE. THEY LET ME LIVE THERE FOR A YEAR UNTIL I GRADUATED FROM VILLA PARK HIGH SCHOOL….THE LAST TIME I WAS OUT THAT WAY IN YORBA LINDA, I SAW THE RICHARD M. NIXON LIBRARY. THE LIBRARY MAY HAVE BEEN BUILT ON ONE OF THEIR PROPERTIES. IT HAS ALL CHANGED SO MUCH IT IS DIFFICULT TO IDENTIFY. THEY WERE VERY NICE TO ME. I GOT TO HARVEST THEIR ORANGE CROPS WITH FRIENDS AND SELL THE CROP TO SUNKIST AND I GOT A PIECE OF THE PIE. I LOVED THEM. THEY WANTED ME TO STAY. THEY BOTH HAD GROWN KIDS FROM PREVIOUS MARRIAGES AND IT WAS OBVIOUS THAT THE KIDS DID NOT WANT ME AROUND. SO I JUST PACKED MY STUFF AND FOLLOWED MY M.O. AND DISAPPEARED. I DON’T THINK I EVEN THANKED THEM. I WAS YOUNG AND CONFUSED BUT THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR MY UNGRATEFUL BEHAVIOR. BUT… I WAS JUST A KID.

BACK TO JERRY’S KIDS, I HAD NOT BEEN BACK TO SEE JERRY AND STEPHANIE FOR A FEW MONTHS DUE TO MY MOVING AND THEN NEEDING TO MOVE AGAIN ETC. EVERYTHNG I OWNED FIT INTO MY 1966 VW SQUAREBACK. I NEEDED SOME JERRY COUNSELING. I WAS SUPRISED WHEN I GOT TO THE HOUSE. IT WAS JERRY’S PARENTS THAT OWNED THE HOUSE AND THE HOUSE WAS UP FOR SALE AND EVERYBODY WAS MOVING OUT. I ASKED MIKE HOMER WHERE JERRY WAS ? HE SAID JERRY MOVED TO SANTA BARBARA, CA. WITH STEPHANIE. NOBODY HAD A PHONE NUMBER OR ADDRESS. I WAS GETTING MORE DEPRESSED, ANXIOUS AND LOST.

I TOOK A LEAP OF FAITH. I WAS BRAILLE DRIVING. I WAS “RUNNING ON EMPTY”. THAT NIGHT I DROVE FROM ORANGE COUNTY TO SANTA BARBARA WITHOUT AN ADDRESS OR A PHONE NUMBER. I ONLY HAD ONE 8 TRACK WITH ME. CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL. I LISTENED TO IT OVER AND OVER. I HIT SANTA BARBARA WITH THE FIRST LIGHT GLIMMER OF SUNRISE. I GOT OFF ON AN EXIT. “MAYBE STATE STREET ?”. EVERYTHING WAS QUIET AND I AM THINKING THAT I HAVE OFFICIALLY LOST MY MIND AND HOW CAN I POSSIBLY FIND THEM? NO PHONE NUMBER! , NO ADDRESS ! THEY HAD JUST MOVED THERE SO NOT IN A PHONE BOOK AND NO CELL PHONES EXISTED YET ! SO I PULL OFF THE HIGHWAY AND STOP AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND NOBODY ELSE IS EVEN ON THE ROAD. RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME IS JERRY’S VW BEETLE CROSSING RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME! SO I AM BLOWING MY HORN AND CHASING HIM AND HE PULLS OVER. HE ASKS ME, ” WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE ?” I SAID I CAME TO FIND YOU AND STEPHANIE! HE ASKS ME, ” HOW DID YOU KNOW WE WERE HERE ?”

I RESPONDED, ” I HEARD IT THROUGH THE GRAPEVINE “.

I ASKED JERRY WHERE HE WAS GOING ? HE SAID HE AWAKENED WITH A PAIN IN HIS EARS A COUPLE OF HOURS AGO AND HE WAS ON THE WAY TO THE HOSPITAL! I ASKED IF HE WANTED ME TO DRIVE HIM ? HE LOOKED AT ME AND JUST SAID ” THE PAIN JUST NOW STOPPED ! WE JUST LOOKED AT EACH OTHER…. JERRY SAYS. OK ..THAT’S VERY STRANGE !But very cool !

JUST FOLLOW ME BACK TO THE APARTMENT ! Stephanie and Jerry had just moved in. WE WERE BOTH IN THAT SPECIAL ZONE THAT WE ALL EXPERIENCE AT TIMES IF WE ARE ” AWAKE” ENOUGH TO RECOGNIZE THE SIGNS.

WE BOTH DROVE BACK TO HIS APT. AND STEPHANIE WAS THERE AND SHE WELCOMED ME. THE THREE OF US SPENT A GOOD PART OF THE DAY TOGETHER. IT WAS A LEAP OF FAITH. THAT WAS THE LAST TIME I EVER SAW EITHER ONE OF THEM. I HEARD JERRY PASSED IN A TRAFFIC ACCIDENT AND STEPHANIE? I JUST DON’T KNOW. STEPHANIE WAS A WONDERFUL PERSON AND SO WAS JERRY.

NOW, HERE COMES PART TWO OF THE STORY !!!

SO JUST LAST WEEK I AM SITTING HERE IN FRENCH POLYNESIA MINDING MY OWN BUSINES and WATCHING SOME OLD ROCK AND ROLL AND UP POPS A JACKSON BROWN U-TUBE. ENTITLED “RUNNING ON EMPTY ”

I WATCHED THE VIDEO ( And that was great ! ) and at the end of the U-Tube it listed the names of everybody in the video and the ‘CREW” ! I saw a face that looked very familiar ! It listed the crew names and their room #s when they were on the…..

THEY ARE/WERE BOTH BROTHERS OF STEPHANIE DETERDING ! THEY USED TO HANG OUT AT THE HOUSE WHERE JERRY AND STEPHANIE LIVED NEAR ME! ERIC AND MIKE DETERDING ARE LISTED AS “CREW” BUT ERIC ALSO PROBABLY DOUBLED AS SECURITY. WHY DO I THINK THAT ? ERIC DETERDING IS THE ONLY GUY I EVER SAW THAT LIFTED A HARLEY DAVIDSON MOTORCYCLE AND PUT IT IN THE BACK OF A PICK UP TRUCK….. BY HIMSELF !!!!!!

I HOPE STEPHANIE DETERDING IS OK AND HAPPY. SHE WAS A SPECIAL AND KIND PERSON. I HEARD THROUGH THE GRAPEVINE YEARS BACK THAT JERRY HAD PASSED IN A TRAFFIC ACCIDENT.

I really did think that Vladamir Putin was a smart man. He is NOT a smart man and that makes me wrong and also exposes me as a not so smart man. Vladamir Putin has made a terrible miscalculation regarding the effects of his aggressive and provocative actions in UKRAINE. Those aggressive and provocative actions will unite much of our world in a manner that perhaps our world has never seen. Vladamir Putin has shot himself in the foot while the Sleeping Tiger sits poised to pounce upon ancient contiguous property rights denied to them for generations. Nobody but Vladamir Putin would think of trying to deny China their claims. Between China and Russia, I prefer China. The western world would be happy to exchange Vladamir Putin for the more intelligent and logical and wise CHINA. Vladamir Putin thought he had “then” President Donald Trump in his back pocket. Vladamir Putin needs some new interpreters. Donald Trump is nothing more than a 70 + year old flim flam man, and a silver spoon spoiled brat. Vladamir Putin wants to get his investment money back ! Vladamir Putin is hesitant to make his TRUMP history public because the situation makes Vladamir Putin appear to be a FOOL !

VLADAMIR PUTIN SHOULD BE ON OUR SHORT LIST OF PEOPLE THAT WE DO NOT WANT TO CALL A FOOL. HE IS ALREADY BECOMING MORE AND MORE UNHINGED.

Adam Kinzinger and Elizabeth Cheney were both censured by the Republican National Committee for participating in the Jan. 6th committee.

Representative Adam Kinzinger served our country in AFGANISTAN and IRAQ. He is currently serving his 6th term in the House of Representatives. How did the party of Abraham Lincoln, Ronald Reagan, George Bush Sr. # 41 & George Bush # 43 become the party of Donald Duck and a clown car full of stooges ? Shame on them !

Even if you did not like their politics , all these Republican Presidents upheld their oaths of office. They respected our Laws, Traditions, and Honor. They also honored decorum. For the last 246 years we have not had a internal insurrection in the USA. And yes, I know…We did have a Civil War. It was a terrible chapter in our history. Both sides of the field of battle paid for our sins of slavery and complacency.

If we do not honor and protect out traditions and our values, who are we ? The Republican Party has essentially “Black Listed” R- Adam Kinzinger and R-Elizabeth Cheney for their Honesty, Integrity and Courage. There is no path for Donald Trump to make a run for the Presidency again. The only race that he is going to run is to get out of the country when he finally realizes that he may be sentenced to prison. NOONE is or should be, ABOVE THE LAW. It would be embarrassing to us as a country to have a former United States President incarcerated. Well, I think the one thing we all have in common now is that just about everybody is already embarrassed by the failed insurrection. I personally am very proud of the January 6th Commission from the Chairman on down. It must be quite a weight for all of them to carry every day and night. I am proud that we have men and women of integrity that are willing to shoulder that responsibility.

We should HONOR all of them. I honor them and I respect their dedication to our country. I thank them all for their service during this difficult time for our country and for our people.

The following is a copy of an email that I sent to a Rabbi friend in Beersheva, Israel. I will NOT post his email to myself.

Hey Moishe !  A good week to you also. Trump is your # 1 always ?  I think he is a # 2.  OUR CONGRESSIONAL LEADERS PUSHED TRUMP TO ACT REGARDING RECOGNITION OF ISRAEL.  I also think  Mr. #2 would have kissed HITLERS ASS if he thought it could get him more votes. So TRUMP made the PEACE with 4 other Arab countries ?  I thought that ISRAEL made the PEACE.  Your hero, DONALD TRUMP,  will either flee the USA or he will be our first president to be put in jail. I vote for jail.  Trump does not give a rats ass about Israel.  He only cares about Donald Trump and he surrounds himself with people that kiss HIS ass.

I reviewed the newspapers for years with my greatest teacher and mentor every Sunday. Trump is a conman and a National Embarrassment.  Nothing more. 

At one point in time, I thought he had changed and perhaps could bring some positive changes to the table.  I was wrong !  A lot of good people kissed Trump’s ass to get him to do the right thing regarding Israel.  The power behind the “OFFICE” were good Jews and Christians that convinced him to do “the right thing”.

Donald Trump could not find Israel on a map if it was not marked “Israel”.  I know you are a good man and we have  very different perspectives on Donald Trump.  However,  I WOULD NOT PISS ON DONALD TRUMPS LEG IF IT WAS ON FIRE !  I assume my trip to Beersheva, Israel  is now indefinitely postponed.

I wish you and Israel AND your neighbors PEACE !

Liz Cheney did her job when she was selected for the the January 6th investigation of the insurrection. Donald Trump never did his job. His job was certainly NOT to incite violence via a mob of armed insurrectionists and send them to the United States Capitol. The state of Wyoming is a state full of very independently minded people. It is not a heavily populated state. I have concluded that the state of Wyoming is populated by a lot of people that can not admit when they are wrong. Donald Trump is a menace. When Liz Cheney was selected for the January 6th committee, she responded and accepted the responsibility. THAT is what all people in positions of authority should do.
She will be fine. I respect her and her strength and her intelligence. She did her job very well indeed. I believe she is headed for bigger and better things if she wants bigger and better things.
Donald Trumps political future is in critical condition and probably terminal. He is a criminal and the JUSTICE system in the USA will determine his fate. Liz Cheney may not be interested in a bigger and better political future. She has been lambasted and insulted and she has been threatened.
I wish her a better life and happiness. Politics in the USA has turned into a sick circus because of one clown.
Donald Trump inherited money from his father. And that is just fine. Donald Trump screwed everybody he could whenever he could for many years. His behavior was in the news and newspapers constantly.
Liz Cheney is a very intelligent and strong woman. She has shown more intelligence and professionalism than I have seen in the Republican Party for years. In fact, I put her at the same level as Ronald Reagan.

I AM HESITANT TO TELL THIS STORY BECAUSE I WILL PROBABLY GET SOME NEGATIVE FEEDBACK AND RIDICULE . ( bfd ! ) HOWEVER, I AM COMPELED TO DO SO. I DO NOT REMEMBER IF I HAVE BLOGGED ABOUT THIS BEFORE AND I AM TO LAZY TO LOOK IT UP. MY MEMORY AIN’T WHAT IT USED TO BE BUT “THIS” MEMORY IS CRYSTAL CLEAR.

IT WAS JUNE 28TH, 1983 WHEN I SUFFERED A STROKE AND LANDED IN NORTHRIDGE HOSPITAL IN THE SAN FERNANDO VALLEY IN CALIFORNIA. MY ENTIRE LEFT SIDE WAS PARALYZED AND I LOST THE LEFT SIDE PERIPHRIAL VISION IN BOTH EYES. I WAS NOT MAKING ANY PROGRESS IN THERAPY AND I WAS DROWNING IN MY DEPRESSION. MY WIFE VISITED EVERY DAY. OUR DAUGHTER WAS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD.

ONE NIGHT I WAS FEELING VERY SORRY FOR MYSELF AND SORRY THAT MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER WERE HAVING TO ENDURE THIS TRAJEDY WITH ME. THE STAFF AT NORTHRIDGE HOSPITAL WERE VERY NICE AND EFFICIENT AND PROFESSIONAL.

SO, ONE NIGHT, I AM LAYING IN BED AND DEPRESSED AND ANGRY AT MYSELF FOR MY OWN BEHAVIOR THAT PUT ME IN MY WHEELCHAIR. IT IS DIFFICULT TO ROLL A WHEELCHAIR WITH ONLY ONE ARM. THE WHEELCHAIR JUST RUNS AROUND IN CIRCLES. I WAS FEELING THAT I HAVE BEEN RUNNING AROUND IN CIRCLES THE MAJORITY OF MY LIFE AND NOW I WAS FEELING SORRY FOR MYSELF, AND DEPRESSED. IT WAS MY OWN FAULT. I WAS WORKING MYSELF TO DEATH AT MY SMALL CABINET SHOP.

SO…I AM LAYING IN BED AND DROWNING IN MY OWN THOUGHTS IN THE DARKNESS. I WAS NOT PRAYING.

RIGHT NEXT TO MY HOSPITAL BED I HEAR A VOICE.

IT WAS A UNIQUE VOICE THAT I HAD NEVER HEARD BEFORE OR SINCE.

IT WAS A SIMPLE MESSAGE. THE MESSAGE WAS, ” Heal Thy Self !”

It frightened me. I swung my legs over the side of the bed as best I could and tried to walk. I fell flat on my face. I crawled back up grabbing the bed and tried to walk and fell again. I was trying to exit the room and get to the nurses station. I tried again and down again and again. So I get up and try to get my feet under me and tried to gain some balance. I HOBBLED out of my room and down again and again. The Nurse at the Nurses Station yells at me that I was NOT supposed to be walking ! I answered her with, ” Oh Yeah ? Go tell that to the guy in my room ! So what does she do ? She calls security. She asked me what did the “guy” look like ? I answered, I have no idea because it was dark ! Then I told her what I heard. Security came and left. There was no-BODY there. They got my wheel chair and I went back to my room and laid there awake until dawn. I ate breakfast and rolled into therapy. I got up on the parallel bars to walk and everybody in the room was shocked ! They asked me, ” WHAT HAPPENED ? I progressed like I never had before. After that, I worked hard in therapy. I was able to get out of the wheelchair very quickly and used a cane after a lot of hard work with the therapists and staff. I only shared my story with a few of the staff. That was 39 years ago.

I still walk with a limp. It is a reminder to me. I remind myself of how important it is to tell the people that we love….”That We Love Them”

I got a second chance that many people probably do not receive.

It changed my life and gave me a better perspective on life and happiness and how fragile we all are. The therapists at Northridge Hospital were wonderful and patient with me. I even liked the Psychiatrist that was sent to talk to me. I told him a couple of Psychiatrist Jokes and we laughed and laughed and he left smiling and shook my hand when he left.

Just like the MOVIE- ” YESTERDAY ” on NETFLIX. IT IS IMPORTANT TO TELL THE PEOPLE WE LOVE – THAT WE LOVE THEM !
